Apple Upgrades iMacs Minus the Hype

Speeding things up for the upgraded iMac: a faster Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processor (that’s already in MacBooks) and a Nvidia 8800 graphics card.

Design stays the same. The last design change was last summer.

Graphics chips also stay the same. But we have the option of installing a 512MB Nvidia GeForce 8800GS chip on the 24-inch iMac.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has slapped its “Mature” label on GTA: IV.

Sex with hookers, salty language, violence and driving drunk means US retailers can’t sell Grand Theft Auto IV to people under the age of 17.

Why the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 Digital Camera Matters

For starters, 10.2 megapixels. But falling in love with this camera is not all about resolution.

There’s something Panasonic calls IIC… Intelligent ISO Control. This automatically adjusts ISO and shutter speed to the light you’re working with.

Why does ISO matter? When it’s high, shots can get a bit dirty, so if you’re all fired up over the wealth of megapixels it’s nice to have the new LSI Venus Engine III image processor to keep the noise down.

Panasonic’s MEGA OIS, the Optical Image Stabilizer is solid. So is the Leica lens, a 28mm wide-angle. Zoom is 4.00x. And the CCD is 16:9.

Motorola Mobile Phone Blues Grow Louder

Motorola is going to have a rough time hanging on to its number three position in the rankings of global mobile phone market share.

  • Nokia is #1 with a 41% share.
  • Samsung is #2 with 16%.
  • Motorola is #3 at 8.6%.

But Motorola can hear footsteps. LG is closing in, and growing more quickly.

Every hour, Nokia sells more than 50,000 handsets. The strongest demand right now is in Africa and Asia.
