The new 60-minute Flip Mino is 40% smaller that the original Flip. The position of the USB has been changed: now, it extends from the top of the Flip.

The delete button can be locked and you can now record silently. A full charge on the rechargeable battery lasts for four hours.

Gas prices be damned, we’re going to churn through digital cameras like we churn through cellphones.

That’s the forecast from market researchers at IDC… apparently we’ll be unable to resist the so-called feature-to-price ratio, where less money buys more bells and whistles.
And at the same time we’re buying new digital cameras, we’ll be printing more stuff to show off the resolution all those pixels and filters and gizmos get us.
Calendars, coffee mugs, t-shirts… “Custom photo merchandise will continue to grow in popularity.” Says IDC’s Chris Chute, research manager, Digital Imaging Solutions and Services.
IDC says digital camera shipments are forecast to grow 3% a year through 2012.

For starters, 10.2 megapixels. But falling in love with this camera is not all about resolution.
There’s something Panasonic calls IIC… Intelligent ISO Control. This automatically adjusts ISO and shutter speed to the light you’re working with.

Why does ISO matter? When it’s high, shots can get a bit dirty, so if you’re all fired up over the wealth of megapixels it’s nice to have the new LSI Venus Engine III image processor to keep the noise down.
Panasonic’s MEGA OIS, the Optical Image Stabilizer is solid. So is the Leica lens, a 28mm wide-angle. Zoom is 4.00x. And the CCD is 16:9.

Sony HDR-TG1 HiDef Camcorder Arrives Next Month
The Sony HDR-TG1 will retail for $900 amd records 1920×1080i to PRO Duo, PRI Duo Mark2 cards and Sony’s Memory Stick.
Key benefit: size… it’s touted as the world’s smallest HiDef camcorder and weighs 10 ounces.
The TG1 Lens: 10x optical Zoom from Carl Zeiss and SteadyShot stabilization.
There is a touch screen LCD, a built in zoom microphone and Dolby Digital 5.1 channel recording.
Sony’s Bionz processing engine and a 2-megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor round out the HiDef Camcorder.

The Panasonic LUMIX FX500 Digital Camera features a Leica DC wide angle lens… 25mm ultra-wide. Zoom is 5x and the megapixels are 10.1.

HD Video recording: 1280×720p. HD stills deliver a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The touch screen lets you control basic camera and video shoot options. The LUMIX FX500 from Panasonic should be on the market in another few months and will cost about $400.
